Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum qualifications required to test for the position of Firefighter:

  • A valid Texas Driver's License is required.
  • Basic Firefighter with Paramedic certification or be enrolled in a Paramedic course. Candidate must be within 3 months of being eligible to test for Paramedic certification with the State of Texas or National Registry.
  • Selected candidate must have Paramedic certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum age of applicant is 19 years old.
  • Must have a High School diploma or GED.
  • Must be certified as a Firefighter by the Texas Commission of Fire Protection.
  • An extensive background check will be conducted.

Basic Firefighter with Paramedic certification or be enrolled in a Paramedic course. Candidate must be within three (3) months of eligibility to test for Paramedic certification with the State of Texas or National Registry. Selected candidates must have Paramedic certification within six (6) months of hire.
