The MedStar ambulance service has been acquired by the City of Fort Worth and will no longer operate under the MedStar name. Haltom City and all 14 other cities previously served by MedStar have opted to remain in this system, allowing Fort Worth to manage ambulance services moving forward. This transition will be seamless, ensuring continued high-quality emergency care for our community.
The new ambulance system goes live July 1, 2025.
What’s changing:
- Faster response times and system enhancements
- New ambulances – look for blue and white units on the road
- EMTs and Paramedics will now wear Fort Worth uniforms
- Annual ambulance subscription program will still be available, but sign-ups will go through the City of Fort Worth (details coming soon)
What’s Staying the Same:
The Haltom City Fire Department will continue to staff fire trucks with paramedics and provide first response to emergency medical calls, ensuring that our tradition of top-tier patient care remains strong.
More details will be added as we get closer to July 1, 2025.
