Haltom City Parks and Recreation Board Meeting Minutes Tuesday November 5, 2019

Board Members present- Dana Coffman, Troy Dunn, Don Cooper, Don LeMaster, Cheri Crum, Penny Clowers, Bill Edwards

Board Members absent – Harold Fowler

Council Liaison Gaye Vanzant, Park and Rec Director Christi Pruitt

  • Call to order

  • Dana Coffman at 6:02pm

  • Approval of minutes

  • October meeting minutes- motion by Penny, second by Don L, all approve

  • Public Comments-

  • an opportunity for citizens to address the park and recreation board on matters which are scheduled on current agenda for consideration by Parks and Recreation Board but not scheduled as a public hearing. In order to address the Parks and Recreation board during public comments, a public meeting appearance form must be completed and presented to secretary prior to the start of Parks and Recreation board meeting.

  • No citizens present or requested. Forms were on table

  • Reports-

  • Christi Pruitt- Halloween was a great event

  • Rec Side- youth basketball sign ups have started and go through Nov 30

  • 3 open positions posted- two parks maintenance positions (full time) and one irrigation specialist (full time)

  • Rec center closing Dec 13 for cleaning.

  • NEO property- Asbestos survey complete. If approved, hopefully start demo next week. Oncor pulled all meters and included north park area unauthorized. Christi is hoping to have power back there tomorrow

  • Buffalo Ridge restroom- waiting on engineer. Hopefully next two weeks approved and install expected Jan-Feb.

  • Broadway Park grant- need citizen and council support for Texas Park and Wildlife grant approval. Discussed other ideas for things at park such as concrete ping pong tables, checker tables.

  • Individual Parks-

  • all good at parks aside from what was discussed

  • Discussion Items –

  • Donation fund- benches for All-Access park will arrive tomorrow. Board reviewed financial report

  • Park Signs- Gaye Van Zant had a design matching arrival signs similar to Haltom theater sign which Board agrees would make everything in city uniform for signage.

  • Upcoming Events-

    Veterans Day ceremony at memorial, 11am Nov 11th.

    All Access grand opening looking at late November, day TBD. Bluebonnet spreading Nov 16th from 4pm-6pm.

    Christmas on Broadway Dec 7th from 2:30- 5:30pm. Would like board to have a booth to help get donations for parks or tell them how to set up with Fathom on water bill to donate

  • Board Shirts-

    Christi and Board would like polo shirts and discussed coming up with a parks logo

  • December Meeting

    There will be a holiday pot-luck on Dec 3rd, but no official meeting for December

  • Adjourn

Don C motioned, Penny second, all approved at 7:45pm
