Haltom City Parks & Recreation Board Meeting Monday 01/07/2020

Attended- Christi Pruitt-Parks Director, Board Members Dana Coffman, Troy Dunn, Don LeMaster, Don Cooper, Cheri Crum, Penny Clowers, Bill Edwards

Absent- Harold Fowler, Gaye Vanzant-Council Liaison

CALL TO ORDER- By Vice Chair Don LeMaster- 6:04pm

  • Parks Director Christi Pruitt informed board of agenda not posted online within 72 hours so there will only be discussion tonight as no vote can be made

    APPROVAL OF MINUTES- from Nov Meeting. Don Cooper motions, Penny Seconds, all approved

    PUBLIC COMMENTS- no public attendees REPORTS- Christi Pruitt

  • Recreation- basketball started, with great turnout

    No athletic coordinator – left for another position

    Juanita went from part time to full time, which opens up her part time position

  • Parks- down 3 positions- 2 maintenance and 1 irrigation specialist

    • NEO is cleared

      -Buffalo Ridge restroom scheduled for Jan 23rd

    • Broadway Park grant proposal completed

      All Access- hand rails need to be installed due to slope of ramp because of park placement. Expecting to have crew from park construction to install

  • Individual parks- Buffalo Ridge- water settled under bridge by softball field Birdville Trails- few things missing on equipment such as drumstick

    DISCUSSION ITEMS-

  • Donation fund report by Christi Pruitt

  • Discussed purchase possibility of portable trailer like North Richland Hills has with donation fund and possible corporate sponsors from Chamber

  • NEO Direction- discussed ideas and timeline. Christi Pruitt showed slide show of several ideas and board all agrees would like a multi-use, commons type of development instead of sports theme. Trails, pavilion, stocked lake, etc.

  • Dog park possibility next to senior center

  • Attend Chamber lunch on 16th at FAAC 11:00am- 1:00pm

  • Board Shirts- board agrees would like polo style shirts with parks logo. Christi Pruitt will get with designer to come up with a logo idea similar to idea of new parks signs.

  • Future agenda- logo for shirts, location of dog park, railing on all access park
