Tarrant County - Vaccine Registration

As directed by the Texas Department of State Health Services, Tarrant County Public Health, along with other Texas-based health entities, is providing initial vaccinations to those most at risk of exposure to COVID-19. These people have been placed in two groups, designated as Phase 1A and 1B. More details regarding these groups follow. If you qualify for the vaccine under the Phase 1A or 1B categories, please pre-register for an appointment. Those who show up without appointments will be turned away.

If you don’t qualify in the Phase 1A or 1B groups, please be patient. The State will roll out additional groups in the coming weeks and months ahead. Public Health expects regular vaccine shipments going forward.

Tarrant County - Rental Assistance

Tarrant County has allocated $10 million in Coronavirus Relief Funds (CRF) for the Tarrant County Rental Assistance Program and much of it remains unused. Rental Assistance of up to 3 months for COVID-19 related residential rent/lease delinquencies is available. Tenants must initiate the application process, but assistance funds will be sent directly to the landlords. We encourage landlords to work with their tenants and use this program BEFORE initiating the eviction process.

Second Round of Small Business Funding Starts Oct 26

Tarrant County has announced that the much awaited Second Round of Small Business Assistance Grant funding is opening on Monday, October 26th at 10:00 a.m. The Program Information, Eligibility Criteria and Documentation Requirements are available online now at The second round application maintains the same basic eligibility requirements as the first round, with the addition of independently owned and operated Franchise Business that were not eligible in Round 1. The financial information to be included by the applicant in the application has been streamline for the second round and is limited to the total business deposit amounts for January, February, April, and May 2020, with tax documentation and bank statements to be uploaded. This should make for an easier application process for the applicant and a faster review process for the audit team. This is an ONLINE APPLICATION ONLY and all documentation must be uploaded with the application before submittal.

NOTE: The 2nd round of applications for the Small Business Assistance Grant program is available for those businesses that may have missed the application period in the first round, started an application but did not complete it, or did not provide the correct information for their first round application that caused them to be deemed ineligible and not receive an award. Businesses/Owners receiving a grant award in Round 1 will NOT be eligible for another grant award in Round 2. Owners with more than one business who received grant funding for a business in the first round will NOT be eligible to receive grant funds for a different business in the second round.

Foreclosure Prevention, Housing Retention & Evictions Assistance

Housing Channel has launched a housing assistance program to aid Tarrant County residents suffering from job loss or loss of income due to COVID-19. Housing Channel is a HUD-certified local nonprofit agency offering free housing advisors and services for housing retention and foreclosure prevention. They can also help you with rental assistance if you are having trouble paying your rent due to a job loss from COVID-19.

Update - Small Business Assistance Grants

The Tarrant County Auditor’s Office staff continues to review the applications submitted for the Small Business Assistance Grants distributed through the CARES ACT. They have added and trained several people to assist in the process. Last week, the first 107 grant awards totaling $926,850 were sent out to businesses. This week, another 208 grant awards totaling $1,773,814 will be mailed. Linked below, the Care 4 Tarrant reports for July 28th and August 4th provide information on the grant awards issued per city.

We know the review process is taking some time, and that businesses may be contacting you, as they are us, to find out the status of their applications. All businesses that applied will be sent an email advising them either of an award or if they were ineligible due to various reasons. The Auditor’s Office hopes to have all eligible applicant grants awarded by the end of this month. As some of the ineligible emails have gone out, applicants have emailed us back asking to change their location address, change an answer to a question, etc. Unfortunately, we cannot reopen the application portal or make changes to an application after the application and the information provided was attested to and submitted by the applicant. We encourage these applicants to monitor our County website should additional future grant funding become available.
