Robert Briggs serves as the Director of Economic Development for the City of Haltom City, where he leads efforts to strengthen the local economy by attracting new investment, supporting existing businesses, and fostering a vibrant and sustainable commercial environment. With more than two decades of public service experience—including leadership roles in the military, law enforcement, and municipal government—Robert Briggs brings a collaborative, strategic, and data-driven approach to economic development.

Before joining Haltom City, Robert held various leadership positions with the City of Southlake, Texas, where he spearheaded initiatives that boosted business retention, enhanced tourism, and supported major special events. His work in Southlake included managing innovative programs like Open Rewards, launching the first ever Holiday Ice Skating Rink attraction in Southlake Town Square, attracting new business aligned with targeted industries, and leading community-focused projects such as the Veterans Memorial planning effort.

A U.S. Army combat veteran with a background in both strategic and tactical military intelligence operations, Robert is passionate about servant leadership and community building. He is committed to fostering meaningful partnerships with businesses, developers, residents, and regional allies to achieve the City’s strategic goals. His vision for Haltom City includes revitalizing key corridors, promoting adaptive reuse and redevelopment, and enhancing the city’s reputation as a pro-business destination in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

Robert holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and an Executive Master of Public Service and Administration from the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University. He is also a graduate of the North Texas Commission’s Emerging Leaders Program and the Texas Economic Development Council’s Basic Economic Development Course.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, getting outdoors, coaching youth sports, and supporting veteran-focused causes.
