The City Council recognized Haltom City's Public Works Department at the May 10, 2021 City Council Meeting. The week of May 16-23, 2021 is "National Public Works Week", meant to acknowledge the vital role Public Works plays in the day to day operations of a city's infrastructure. Engineering, street construction/maintenance, water supply/testing, wastewater/stormwater management & environmental services are just some of the responsibilities of Haltom City's Public Works Department.
More recently, they played a crucial role in maintaining our water supply during this past February's Winter Storm Uri. While many cities around us were put on water boil notices due to their supply being compromised, our Public Works staff went to the mat to do what they could to preserve the safety and supply of our water supply to our residents. Through their work and diligence we were able to get through the event without any boil notice having to be put into effect.
