The Haltom City Public Library has been awarded a Texas Book Festival Collections Enhancement Grant. This grant will be used to enhance the nonfiction, large print, audiobook and Spanish collections. Library staff are very excited and thankful to have received this grant. Announcements will be made on social media and a display will be created in the library as books are received.
Library Services Director Lesly M. Smith said of the grant "It is heartening to be awarded a Texas Festival Grant. A library, no matter how big the library is, always needs more books to support the reading and informational needs of its community. In our case this is especially critical this year. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic the library was able to take advantage of lock down time to complete a massive weeding project. We now need to strengthen and enrich the collection. The grant will help us greatly to achieve that goal. Thank you to the Texas Book Festival and Texas Library Association committee for awarding the Haltom City Public Library this celebrated grant."
This grant would not have been possible if it were not for the Texas Book Festival. This is a festival that takes place every year in Austin, Texas. This year the Festival will be held virtually. Please visit their social media @TexasBookFestival and their website for more information.
