As a result of Governor Abbott’s March 3, 2021 Executive Order ending the statewide mask mandate effective March 10, Haltom City employees and visitors to City facilities are not required to wear masks. We do encourage the wearing of masks by employees and citizens, and the City will continue practices such as social distancing and regular disinfecting of City facilities.

The Haltom City Public Library is open to the public on a limited basis following guidelines from the Texas Governor and the Center for Disease Control. It should be understood that this is still a fluid situation and all dates, restrictions or limitations may change at any time.

Patrons are encouraged to take advantage of the Library’s drive thru pickup window and drive thru book drop. The drive thru pickup window is for reserved (on hold) materials.

Precautions to be Followed by Staff & Visitors
  • Patrons must maintain safe social distancing.
  • Patrons are encouraged to wear a mask inside the library.
  • Employees will wash and sanitize hands many times a day, especially between interactions with visitors.
  • Library staff are encouraged to wear a mask when interacting with the public.
  • Returned materials will be quarantined for three (3) days before they are checked in and taken off patron’s account and available for circulation again. Those additional three days are not counted towards an overdue fine (The HCPL does not charge overdue fines).


  • Checking books, audios, mobile hotspots, movies etc., in and out.
  • Copying service has resumed; this is self-serve. Coin op. accepts change (no pennies) and $1.00 and $5.00 bills; no change will be made; no credit card use available. Limited help available while maintaining social distancing.
  • Drive thru book return, open 24/7.
  • Drive thru pickup window for reserved materials, open during library business hours.
  • Faxing has resumed; this is self-serve. Payment by credit card only.
  • Homebound services (delivering materials to residence for those unable to come to the library. For example, for health reasons, whether a permanent or temporary health condition). Call 817-222-7768 to register. For HC residents only.
  • Interlibrary Loan (borrowing books throughout the world). Come in or call 817-222-7786, to make a request.
  • MetrOPAC (borrowing/reserving materials from Burleson, HC, Ft. Worth, Keller, Richland Hills, Watauga libraries). See "Three Ways to Reserve Materials or Place Holds..." above.
  • Notary service has resumed, by appointment only. Call 817-222-7786 to make an appointment. Social distancing will be maintained. Payment by credit card only.
  • Proctoring has resumed. Please call 817-222-7786 to set up an appointment. Social distancing maintained.
  • Online Resources
  • Seating will be available while maintaining social distancing.
  • Social media outlets contain virtual programming and other information
  • Study rooms open for use. Limit of 2 hours and 2 people at a time; masks must be worn.
  • Wi-Fi Hotspots available for check out (Haltom City residents only). Call 817-222-7786, come in or place hold online.


  • Patrons are strongly encouraged to wear a mask when visiting the library.
  • Self-serve only; staff will be unable to assist at this time due to social distancing.
  • Limit of 1 person per computer.
  • Print station accepts cash only ($5.00, $1.00 or change; no pennies); monetary change can now be made by staff. Credit cards and checks not accepted. No refund for printing so PLEASE checks carefully in order to print.
When Will in-person Programming Resume?

The library is following state, county, and city guidance for programming and services in the library. For programming, we are following Tarrant County’s Community Spread Levels:

  • Substantial: Only virtual programming and take-home kits will be presented.
  • Minimal to Moderate: Some in-person programming can resume with social-distancing and masks required.
  • No to Minimal: Traditional programming can resume.

Municipal Court, located inside City Hall, is open to the public.

You can check the status of your citation up under CITATION SEARCH, search cases, then enter your name or citation. If you have a common name you might want to use the citation option. If you use only the name option, it will pull up everyone with your name, not just your violation.

Senior Center

The Senior Center plans to open May 3, 2021 for classes only, with limited admission and social distancing.

Senior Center staff is distributing food on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:00 a.m. as well as hosting two Tarrant Area Food Bank drive-thru food distributions on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month at 1:00 p.m. Meal delivery/pick up is Friday at 11:00 a.m. The Senior Center is home delivering meals every Friday to those sixty (60) years of age or older and those married to someone 60 or older. There will be five (5) frozen meals and a box of fresh produce.

Tarrant Area Food Distribution drive thru is on the 2nd Thursday/month at 1:00 p.m. in the Senior Center parking lot.

Tarrant Area Food Bank offers information on food pantries, mobile pantry sites, homebound services & in need of food information as well as assistance with applying for food benefits.
