Haltom City residents are in for a treat this summer as Keep Haltom City Beautiful hosts a DIY Rainwater Harvesting Workshop on Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Haltom City Senior Center, 3201 Friendly Ln. Presented by the Tarrant Regional Water District, this event offers participants a unique opportunity to learn how to build their own rain barrels.
Rainwater harvesting is a sustainable practice that involves collecting and storing rainwater for later use. This method not only conserves water but also helps reduce the strain on local water supplies, especially during dry spells. By attending this workshop, participants will gain valuable knowledge on how to create their own rain barrel, which can be used to water gardens, lawns, and other outdoor spaces.
The workshop costs $25, which includes all the necessary materials and instructions. Each participant will leave with their very own rain barrel, ready to be put to use. This hands-on experience will be guided by experts from the Tarrant Regional Water District, ensuring that everyone can successfully construct and maintain their rain barrel.
Spaces for the workshop are limited, so interested individuals are encouraged to register early to secure their spot.
