[ARCHIVED] S&P Credit & Bond Rating Elevated to AA

Haltom City entry sign

Haltom City has just received from the S&P (Standards & Poor Global Credit Rating Agency) the highest credit/bond rating in our city’s history. Haltom City improved from an AA- to an AA credit rating.  The S&P is the rating agency that calculates the credit worthiness of U.S. Governments. Over time this increased credit rating will result in a significant and positive financial impact for our city. We were able to achieve this milestone for the following reasons:

  • Record economic growth for Haltom City over the past few years
  • Continued economic growth on the horizon with numerous large scale construction projects in progress
  • >Excellent fiscal management and oversight

We would like to thank our Mayor, City Council Members, and staff for the recent success in our economic positioning. Our Mayor and City Council Members are all in for the right reasons. Their only agenda is to make decisions that best serve our citizens and the future of our town. It has been a team effort in steering this city towards a prosperous future.

Our 3-pronged economic plan over the past several years has attracted new industries that have created thousands of jobs and brought thousands of new residential units to our great city. This plan is still at work and because of this -back to the basics- economic plan we are starting to attract the retail and entertainment venues that our citizens will benefit from while also bringing visitors to our city that will keep our economic engine viable. Furthermore, this new growth has already initiated and will continue to drive revitalization in other areas of our town. Economic turnarounds take time, but we are heading in the right direction.

Most importantly, we want to express so much appreciation for the support and confidence that our citizens have graciously bestowed on all of us who provide city services. Our residents are loyal to our town, and we could not do it without all those who volunteer for all the various boards and commissions. We are truly blessed and honored to live and work in a community of such great people.

You cannot turn a ship around on a dime, but we have made so much progress in record time. Now we just need to stay on course to meet our mission. Our mission is to continually create a community where families flourish, and business prospers.

Respectfully and Sincerely,

ex Phelps - City Manager
