• NE Recycles Day Flea Market - Nov. 15

    northeast recycles day haltom cityIn celebration of America and Texas Recycles Day, Keep Haltom City Beautiful will once again  partner with local communities to host the Northeast Recycles Day Flea Market. The flea market will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 15th. The location is The Hills Business Center at 6357 Boulevard 26, just northeast of Birdville Stadium.

    Besides the annual NEET Flea Market that takes place at the old Richland Plaza, they are hoping to break a world record for the most cardboard boxes collected and used to build a structure. The structure will be a replica of the first Tarrant County Courthouse, which in the mid-1800s was located here in Birdville.

  • Keep HC Beautiful Receives Grant

    keep haltom city beautiful lowesLowe’s has awarded a $5,000 grant to support Keep Haltom City Beautiful’s mission to engage individuals in building and sustaining vibrant communities.

    The Lowe’s Community Partners grant will provide funding for “City Hall for Example,” an effort to not only improve the landscape but to serve as a demonstration of what can be done using Texas native plants that require very little water.

    “We’re so pleased that we were selected for this grant,” Carol Williams, board chairman, said. “This gives us the opportunity to show our citizens that low water landscapes can be beautiful.”

  • Take Back Meds Day - Sept. 27

    drug disposalHaltom City will again participate in the Take Back Meds Program. On Saturday, September 27th, the Haltom City Police Department will serve as the drop off site for expired and unused medications, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs. The Police Department is located at 5110 Broadway Ave. Residents may drop off medications from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This is a free service.

  • HCFD Open House - Oct. 11

    haltom city fire rescue open houseWith the coming of fall comes a change in weather, cooler temperatures and a focus on fire prevention. It is that time of year again for the annual Haltom City Fire Rescue Open House. The event will take place on Saturday October 11th, 2014 at the Central Fire Station, located at 5525 Broadway Avenue in Haltom City. The event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

    This year's event will once again feature free food (State Fair Corn Dogs!), fire safety demonstrations and games for the kids. There also will be a blood drive and canned food donations will be accepted. The Haltom City Fire Safety Clowns will put on a show at noon.

  • Mosquito Pool Positive for West Nile

    west nile virusA mosquito pool tested positive for the West Nile Virus near the 5700 block of Diamond Oak Dr. S. in the 76117 zip code here in Haltom City. Based on the Haltom City’s Phased Response Plan the Public Works Department commenced spraying operations on September 2, 3 and 4 between 9:30 p.m. and about 2:00 a.m. City personnel sprayed the east portion of Haltom City from the northern city limits to Midway Rd., and in some areas, as far west as Haltom Rd.

  • Signal Box Artwork Winners

    signal box artwork contest winners haltom cityHaltom City is updating the artwork on traffic signal boxes located along city right of ways. To determine the artwork, Haltom City's Art in the City Committee coordinated a contest. The committee sought entries in photography, digital art and paintings/drawings. Judges made their selections, and the new art will be installed in the coming weeks.

Watercolor Classes - Aug/Sept

haltom city library watercolorThe Haltom City Public Library will be hosting five more watercolor classes in the months of August and September. Classes will be held August 23rd and 30th and September 13th, 20th and 27th. There is a $50 deposit required upon signing up. Fees for the classes are $22/class.

Classes are taught by local artist Bennie Wood (see video of her techniques/work here). A supply list for the classes can be downloaded here.

Haltom Stampede Seeks Sponsors/Volunteers

Summer Campers at "Storm School"

Jamison hosted a special summer edition of his "Storm School" just for the Haltom City summer campers.


Parks & Rec Expands Soccer League

haltom city hot shots soccerHaltom City Parks & Recreation has expanded their boys & girls soccer league. Ages ranges are 3-19, and all games will be played here in Haltom City.

Cost, depending on age of player, is:

  • $40 (ages 3-6), uniform shirt included
  • $85 (ages 7-8)
  • $95 (ages 9 & up)

Register online here between July 28th and August 30th. Late registration may be available after August 30th, but a $20 late fee will apply.


Rec Center Seeks Class Instructors

Haltom City Parks & RecreationThe Haltom City Parks & Recreation Department is looking for instructors of new classes that can be offered to citizens at the Recreation Center.


Stage 1 Watering Restrictions In Effect

Under Stage 1 restrictions households and businesses are limited in sprinkler watering to two days per week with the two days determined by the address of the location. Violations are handled by Code Enforcement, 817-222-7732.

  • Residential addresses ending in an even number may water on Wednesdays and Saturdays
  • Residential addresses ending in an odd number may water on Thursdays and Sundays
  • All non-residential locations, such as apartment complexes, businesses, industries, parks, medians, etc. may water on Tuesdays and Fridays
  • No watering, regardless of address, may take place between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on any day
