Positive Test for WNV - Sept 4

west nile virus preventionTarrant County Public Health (TCPH) has confirmed the presence of West Nile Virus (WNV) in a mosquito sample collected in an area within the City of Haltom City. The sample is from an area in east Haltom City near Diamond Oaks Drive South.

Weather permitting, the City of Haltom City will begin ground spraying efforts in that area (map here) Tuesday, September 8th, 2015. Ground spraying will start at 9:00 p.m. and conclude by 5:00 a.m. the following morning. Haltom City will repeat these operations on both Wednesday, September 9th, and Thursday, September 10th. Haltom City reminds residents of the importance of taking personal protective measures to safeguard against the West Nile Virus. Residents should routinely dump out/drain any standing water on their property, use mosquito repellent with DEET and cover all extremities when outside between dust to dawn.
