Smoking Ordinance Revised

On February 10th and 24th, 2014, the Haltom City City Council held workshops on drafting amendments to the smoking ordinance and adding regulations on the use of electronic vaping devices. Subsequently, on April 28th, 2014, the city council adopted a new smoking ordinance which includes the use of electronic vaping devices in the definition of smoking; prohibits smoking in food establishments (ie. restaurants); and adds provisions to allow smoking on a restaurant patio if the patio is located at least 25 feet from a building’s entrance, exit, ventilation system, and operable window.

The ordinance also provides a definition for electronic vaping devices; prohibits the sale or distribution of electronic vaping devices to minors (individuals under the age of 18); and prohibits minors from possessing ignited electronic vaping devices.
