Residential customers are asked to please disregard the aforementioned letter, as it was sent in error by the trash company. Your trash collection or refuse bill will still be calculated in your monthly water bills.

HCPL's 16th Annual Writing Contest

haltom city public library logoTime is running out to submit your entries to the 16th Annual Writing Contest, sponsored by the Friends of the Haltom City Public Library. The deadline is Tuesday, May 31st, 2016. The suggested theme for short story and poetry entries is "The Write Way", though writers are not required to follow this theme.

There are 4 age divisions:

  • 5th & 6th grades
  • 7th – 9th grades
  • 10th – 12th grades
  • Adult

All entries should be typed, double-spaced with a 2,500 word limit. No handwritten submissions will be accepted. Please include on a separate cover letter your:

  • Name
  • Email (if applicable)
  • Telephone number
  • Category (short story or poetry)
  • Age category

Do not include the above information on the entries...they must be on a separate cover sheet. Clip the cover letter to the entry, do not staple. Prizes include a $20.00 gift certificate from Barnes & Noble Bookstore for first place winners and publication of winners’ entries on the library website. All entries will receive a certificate of participation. Entries may be submitted by print, flash drive, fax, email or online (see below).
