    haltom city calendar 2015The annual Community Calendars, featuring 2014 Images of Haltom City Photo Contest winners, are now available at City Hall, the Library and the Recreation Center. The calendar, which lists city-sponsored events, is free.

    The location of the three facilities where you can pick up a calendar is mapped below.

  • McLean Rd. Renamed to Glenview Dr.

    haltom city mclean glenview name changeOn January 12th, 2015, the Haltom City City Council passed a resolution officially changing the name of McLean Road to Glenview Drive. McLean Rd., which travels east/west between Haltom Rd. and Beach St., will be renamed to Glenview Dr. as the "McLean Road" street reconstruction project winds down and new street signs reflecting the new name are erected.

    Glenview Dr. and McLean Rd. are essentially the same thoroughfare, as Glenview Dr. changes to McLean Rd. at Haltom Rd. when traveling westward.

  • 2015 Images of HC Photo Contest

    2015 images haltom city photo contestSubmissions are now being accepted for the annual Images of Haltom City Photo Contest.

    Originating in 1989, the organizers hoped to encourage local residents to use their cameras to pay closer attention to and observe their environments. There is no entry fee, and contestants do not have to be Haltom City residents. Entries are limited to five per person. Winners are published in the annual Haltom City Community Calendar and exhibited at the Haltom City Public Library.

  • HCPL's SRC Video Contest

    haltom city library bisd video contest 2015Create a video about the 2015 Summer Reading Club for your public library to be played on the morning announcements at BISD grade & middle schools and at area public libraries. Summer Reading Club promotes reading for children and adults through programs, events and incentives. 

    All entries and completed release forms must be submitted to this website by February 13th, 2015 at midnight.

  • 2015 Haltom Stampede - Feb. 14

    2015 haltom stampedeMark your calendars for our 29th Annual Haltom Stampede 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run on Saturday, February 14th, 2015. If you register now through February 6th the 5k (9:00 a.m.) timed run is only $20. Between February 7-13 the timed run cost is $25, and if you register on race day the cost is $30. The untimed 5K run costs $20 and the 1 Mile Fun Run (8:30 a.m.) is $15/$20 race day. If you form a team you save $5 per runner. All participants will receive a commemorative long-sleeve shirt.

  • General Election - May 9, 2015

    haltom city may 9 2015 electionThe City of Haltom City is scheduled to have a General Election on May 9th, 2015 and Council Places 1, 2, 7 and the Mayor will be elected. Any person interested in being elected to these positions should download and review the information in the Prospective Candidate's Letter prior to filing an application.

    A list of candidate filings can be found here. Deadline for filing is Friday, February 27th, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.

  • Call for Artist - Spring Gallery Night

Summer Volleyball Camp

Haltom City Parks & Recreation is offering a Summer Volleyball camp for 8-12 year olds and 13-17 year olds. Participants will learn the basics of volleyball, including serving, bumping, setting, exercising and more. The second camp will be a more intense camp to prepare girls for school or club team tryouts. The camps will be held at the Haltom City Recreation Center.

The camp for 8-12 years old will be held from Monday, July 29th to Thursday, August 1st from 1-5:00 p.m. Deadline for registration is July 25th.

The camp for 13-17 year olds will be held from Monday, August 5th to Thursday, August 8th from 1-5:00 p.m. Deadline for registration for this class is August 1st.

Cost is $35 per camp ($5 discount for additional sibling/child).

HCPL's 2015 Writing Contest

haltom city libraryThink you’ve got what it takes to be a writer? Here’s your chance to show off your talent. The Haltom City Public Library is hosting its 2015 Writing Contest.

The two categories include short story and poetry. and the contest is open to 5th graders on up to adults. The deadline for entry submissions is Saturday, May 30th, 2015. Entries may be submitted online here or dropped off at the Haltom City Public Library during operating hours.




Theme: Write Back at Cha! (suggested theme, not mandatory)
Eligibility: All individuals, grades 5th – adult; Haltom City residency not required; no limit to number of submissions.
Categories: Short story & poetry
Divisions: 5th & 6th grades; 7th - 9th grades; 10th - 12th grades; Adult
Format: Print, disk, flash drive, CD, fax (817-834-1446) or online
Length: Typed (do not hand write), double-spaced, 2,500 words maximum. Include on a separate cover letter your name, address, e-mail (if applicable), telephone number, category and grade or adult (do not include this personal information directly on entry). Clip cover letter to entry, do not staple.
Deadline: Saturday, May 30, 2015
Prizes: Gift certificate ($20.00) from Barnes & Noble for first place winners & publication of first place winning entries on library’s website. Names of all winners (1st – 3rd) will be posted on the Haltom City website. All entries will receive a certificate of participation. Winning entries will be retained at the Haltom City Public Library.

Crafty Saturdays at HCPL

A Night of Romance at HCPL

haltom city libraryWhy wait for Valentine’s Day for love? Join us at the Haltom City Public Library on Friday, February 13th from 6:30–8:30 p.m. for A Night of Romance. This free event will showcase local romance authors promoting their latest works. Books will be available to be purchased from and autographed by our featured guests. Some of the writers will entertain attendees by reading selections from their own books in our presentation area.


Library Card Changes in 2015

haltom city library book saleThe Haltom City Public Library is preparing for some big changes in January, 2015. The Library’s catalog software will be changing from Horizon to Polaris, which means big changes for the staff and some great new features for our Library patrons. 


Parks & Rec News/Events

Spring Soccer for 3-10 Yr. Olds

hc parks rec logoWith a very successful expanded fall soccer season under our belt, Haltom City Parks & Recreation will be offering it again this spring. Boys and girls, ages 3 to 10 (birthday as of March 1st) can register for our spring soccer season beginning January 19th.

Coaches are needed. Please contact the Recreation Center at 817-831-6464 for information. You may register online beginning January 19th here.

Adult Spring Softball

haltom city adult softballRegistration for Parks & Recreation's Adult Spring Softball starts February 2nd, 2015. The men's league will play on Friday nights while co-ed will play on Thursday nights & Sunday afternoons.

Cost is $280/team before February 16th and $300 after. The season consists of six regular season games and playoffs. The season will begin in March. Online registration will be available here.

Haltom City Recreation Center - Zumba ClassThe Haltom City Recreation Center has a wide variety of classes available for all ages. For adults we have Bellydance, Tai Chi, Zumba, and Zumba Gold. For the kids we have Dance & Tumble, Preschool, Wing-Jitsu, and Goshin Karate (coming in March, 2014).

Stage 1 Watering Restrictions In Effect

Under Stage 1 restrictions households and businesses are limited in sprinkler watering to two days per week with the two days determined by the address of the location. Violations are handled by Code Enforcement, 817-222-7732.

  • Residential addresses ending in an even number may water on Wednesdays and Saturdays
  • Residential addresses ending in an odd number may water on Thursdays and Sundays
  • All non-residential locations, such as apartment complexes, businesses, industries, parks, medians, etc. may water on Tuesdays and Fridays
  • No watering, regardless of address, may take place between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on any day
