• Artwork Sought for Signal Boxes

    signal box artwork contest haltom cityArt in the City, the Haltom City art committee, is looking for some eye-catching artwork. The group is seeking entries in a contest that will determine the replacement of artwork currently displayed on some of the city’s most prominent traffic light signal control boxes. Many are located along Haltom Road and Denton Highway. The original wraps were installed six years ago and have faded over time.

    The theme of the contest is “Haltom City Scenes: Past, Present and Future”. Each artist may enter up to four pieces.

  • Little Fossil Park Renovation

    little fossil park haltom city renovationThe grand opening for the renovated Little Fossil Park was held Saturday, March 29th. The renovated park, located at 4412 Hadley St., now has:

    • three tournament quality softball fields
    • new lighting system
    • new playground
    • new concession building
    • new restroom building
    • 85 additional parking spaces

    The improvements to the park were made possible by funds from the 2010 bond election.

  • Haltom Road Construction Notice

    haltom rd section temporary closureHaltom Road will be closed to thru traffic between Broadway Ave. and Vicki St. from July 7th until the first week of December. This section of Haltom Rd. is scheduled for major utility and street reconstruction during this time.

    The project consists of replacement of water and sewer mains/services, the installation of large storm sewer pipes and inlets, subgrade stabilization and placement of a 43 foot wide reinforced concrete pavement from Doyle St. to Monett St.

  • Parks & Rec Expands Soccer League

    haltom city hot shots soccerHaltom City Parks & Recreation has expanded their boys & girls soccer league. Ages ranges are 3-19, and all games will be played here in Haltom City.

    Cost, depending on age of player, is:

    • $40 (ages 3-6), uniform shirt included
    • $85 (ages 7-8)
    • $95 (ages 9 & up)

    Register online here between July 28th and August 30th. Late registration may be available after August 30th, but a $20 late fee will apply.

  • 2014 Photo Contest Judging Video

    2014 haltom city photo contest judgingThe judging video for the 2014 Images of Haltom City Photo Contest is now available for viewing. The video can be seen online and on HCTV, Charter Cable channel 190 (daily at 1:30 & 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 & 10:30 p.m.).

    Judges for the contest were Cos DeLeo, Michelle Cahill and Gary Blocker. A list of winners of the contest can be seen here.

  • Safe Routes to School Sidewalks

    haltom city safe routes school sidewalksConstruction of new sidewalks near three BISD schools in Haltom City began in late 2013 and, when completed, will improve the safety of students walking and biking to school. Funded by a grant from Safe Routes to Schools, a federally funded program administered by TxDOT, the 7.6 miles of sidewalk construction will also result in improved crossings at railroad tracks and streets.

    Schools involved include North Oaks Middle, Haltom Middle and the Academy at West Birdville. Phase I construction began near North Oaks along Haltom Road and Springlake Parkway. It has continued south along Haltom Road and includes sidewalks on several other secondary streets.

Sign Up for Email Notifications

Haltom City is starting an email notification service for citizens and business owners. This service will allow Haltom City staff to send out emails to those who choose to sign up for the service. There will be two email lists available to sign up to receive emails from...one for Haltom City citizens and another for Haltom City business owners.

Citizens can expect to receive information about special upcoming events/notifications. If you are a business owner you will receive information from the Economic Development Department that your business may find useful/beneficial.

Please be aware that this is not an emergency notification system.

Nutrition Classes at HCPL

texas agrilife ext pgmPlease join us for a free series of three nutrition classes at the Haltom City Public Library, sponsored by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. All classes will be held from 2:30-3:30 p.m. The classes include:

  • Wednesday, August 6th - Get the Facts on Serving Sizes
  • Wednesday, August 13th - Get the Facts on Fat (with cooking demo)
  • Wednesday, August 20th - Get the Facts on Sodium (with cooking demo)

The classes will take place at the Haltom City Public Library, located at 4809 Haltom Rd. Call 817-222-7787 if you would like more information about these classes. Registration is not required.

Ladies' Night Out at HCPL

Book Sale Nets $3,000

haltom city libraryThe annual Friends of the Haltom City Public Library book sale netted over $3,000. Thank you to the many volunteers and to Public Works Department that worked so hard to make the book sale a success. These proceeds will be used for the Summer Reading Club and other library programs.

Water Spraygrounds Now Open

haltom city spraygroundHaltom City's two water spraygrounds are now open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The spraygrounds are located at White's Branch Park (5290 Western Center Blvd.) and Broadway Park (4839 Broadway Ave., behind Recreation Center). The spraygrounds will remain open until Labor Day.

Hours will be subject to change due to water restrictions, weather, or unforeseen repairs. Shelters at these parks will not be available to rent during this time.

We've Got a Class for You!

Haltom City Recreation Center - Zumba ClassThe Haltom City Recreation Center has a wide variety of classes available for all ages. For adults we have Bellydance, Tai Chi, Zumba, and Zumba Gold. For the kids we have Dance & Tumble, Preschool, Wing-Jitsu, and Goshin Karate (coming in March, 2014).

Parks & Rec Summer Camp

haltom city recreation summer campJoin us for a super-hero filled Summer Camp for your super kids! We’re back again, bigger and better. Kids ages 6-13 can join in our action-packed Summer Camp from June 9 - August 15, which will include games, crafts, sports, field trips and more. A camp t-shirt, lunch, snacks, and all activities are included in the weekly cost. A $25 registration fee is required and weekly camp cost is $95 per camper. Registration is currently under way.

Discounts are available when paying for multiple weeks up front or for the whole summer. Discounts are only available in person, not online. Register in person at the Recreation Center or online here.

Stage 1 Watering Restrictions In Effect

Under Stage 1 restrictions households and businesses are limited in sprinkler watering to two days per week with the two days determined by the address of the location. Violations are handled by Code Enforcement, 817-222-7732.

  • Residential addresses ending in an even number may water on Wednesdays and Saturdays
  • Residential addresses ending in an odd number may water on Thursdays and Sundays
  • All non-residential locations, such as apartment complexes, businesses, industries, parks, medians, etc. may water on Tuesdays and Fridays
  • No watering, regardless of address, may take place between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on any day
