FIRE SERVICES BOARD

CITY OF HALTOM CITY CENTRAL FIRE STATION

SEPTEMBER 19, 2017

Chairperson Suzanne Norris called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.

INVOCATION

ROLL CALL

PRESENT: Norris, Thompson, McConnell, Davenport, Williams, Geltmeier

ABSENT: Austin, Streater

STAFF: Chief Fred Napp, Lt. Derek Wood, Amy West

  1. CONSIDERATION AND/OR ACTION REGARDING APPROVAL OF MINUTES August 15, 2017 - It was moved by Thompson and seconded by Williams to approve the minutes of August 15, 2017 as written. The motion prevailed unanimously.

  2. NEW BUSINESS

    Back the Red Tee shirts the Board will sell the Back the Red tee shirts at Open House.

    Open House – Saturday, October 14th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a table selling all items from Fire Department and Police Department, including tee shirts from both departments, left over Junior Fire/Police Camp shirts and HCPD yard signs. Wanda Carter, Miss Birdie, and her Professional Clown Group, have volunteered to be at the Open House and make balloon animals for the kids and will be doing Face Painting. When setting up the bay area, Chief White will assure that all the kid activities are in one area and the city committees will have a table set up for selling tee shirts, etc. FSB will be set up with plenty of room for both popcorn poppers and distribution of corn dogs. Seating area will be outside the bay. Staff will be available for “crowd control” by making sure the kids area runs smoothly. Fire Safety materials will only be handed out to kids, or age appropriate recipients. Adults will not be given “children themed” items if the child is not with them. There are 100 fingerprinting sheets and ink strips, when those run out that is all that we have.

    Staff will ask Park and Recreations to spray the vacant lot, west of the Station as much as they can before the Open House.

    Halloween Festival – October 28th 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. – be there by 1:00 p.m. will be inside.

    Christmas on Broadway – December 2nd – 3:00 p.m. to 6 p.m., be there by 2:00 p.m.

    Fire Department Christmas Dinner – December 9th 6:30 p.m. Amy has contacted several of the firefighters wives who are willing to help with the Christmas Dinner and the Banquet. They will meet soon and start the final plans for the dinner. We will have Mr. and Mrs. Claus there, firefighters and staff will decorate bay.

    Christmas Dinner for Shift - The December 19th Board meeting will be a dinner with the on-shift personnel. Staff is going to contact several Italian Restaurants about the possibility of having this year’s dinner catered.

  3. OLD BUSINESS

BUDGET UPDATE – Linda Thompson gave the monthly Budget Report.

VOLUNTEER HOURS - All present log Volunteer hours for the meeting. Amy asked that all members counted their volunteer hours and submit them to her as soon as they can.

ADJOURN - It was moved by Thompson and seconded by Williams to adjourn the meeting at 7:05. The motion prevailed unanimously.

FIRE SERVICES BOARD CITY OF HALTOM CITY CENTRAL FIRE STATION APRIL 17, 2018

Chairperson Suzanne Norris called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m.

COUNCIL VISITOR: Mayor David Averitt, Ricky Brown

  1. CONSIDERATION AND/OR ACTION REGARDING APPROVAL OF MINUTES March 20, 2018 - It was moved by Williams and seconded by McConnell to approve the minutes of March 20, 2018 as amended. The motion prevailed unanimously.

  2. NEW BUSINESS

    Jr. Fire/Police Camp – July 23-27

    Registration information and a registration form will be available on line May 1st with a deadline of July 1st. Payment will be required at registration to “hold” spot for camper.

    Staff will get with IT to set up on-line registration and payment. Staff will adjust registration form to allow for a clearer definition of requirements for campers.

    Staff will also adjust the site to allow available spots for captains to register. Each application will be reviewed before final approve to ensure age requirement is met.

    • $100 per camper

    • $150 for two siblings

    • $50 for Team Captains

    • $50 for Fire/Police children (with a parent participate)

    • Underage Employee Children $20.00

      Corporate Sponsors, who donate $250 or more, will have their company logo on the back of the shirts. Staff will make a flyer to promote camp that can be sent to sponsor’s, also information about sponsoring a camper will be included.

      CITIZEN’S FIRE ACADEMY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (CFAAA)

      HCCFAAA Executive Board (FSB) will meet immediately following this meeting.

  3. OLD BUSINESS

CARFEST – David McConnell said the new popcorn popper was definitely a huge improvement! Popcorn popped faster and the larger quantity was great.

Cleaning the popcorn poppers was discussed. The machines need to be wiped down immediately after use and cleaned completely within a few days after use. The machines will be sprayed with vinegar and water immediately after an event, which will help with cut the grease and make cleaning easier.
