The Haltom City Public Works began the process in June, 2008 by conducting a self-assessment of the entire department to determine how the agency’s policies, procedures and practice compared to the recommended practices identified by nationally recognize experts in the field of public works. These practices were used as a model to improve existing practices, to enhance performance, increase productivity, and to strengthen employee morale to better meet the needs of the public. On a daily basis, accredited agencies meet or exceed standards of performance in areas such as engineering, environmental, road repair and maintenance, and water and sewer construction and maintenance.
Accreditation is not a destination; it is part of a continuous improvement process. It is the mark of professionalism that indicates that a public works agency is well managed, complies with recommended practices, and is dedicated to continuous improvement. In order to maintain our accredited status, we will be expected to maintain compliance with our newly established standards and constantly strive to improve our practices.
Accreditation is the mark of excellence that will serve as a constant reminder of our dedication and commitment to the citizens of the City of Haltom City.
