The Professional Standards Division is supervised by a Sergeant and currently includes 4 police officers and 1 civilian employee.  The employees in this unit provide School Resource Officer (SRO) services to the Birdville Independent School District (BISD), manage the Property/Evidence function for the Department, coordinate in-service and other mandatory training for all Police Department personnel, work with Human Resources to recruit new Department employees, conduct background investigations, and perform the Internal Affairs function.  Internal Affairs aggressively investigates allegations of employee misconduct in order to safeguard the reputation of the Department and maintain the public trust.  To make a complaint against a police department employee, call Internal Affairs at 817-222-7076.  

The three Haltom City School Resource Officers are assigned to the Shannon Learning Center, Haltom High School and Haltom Middle School on a full time basis.  The BISD and the City equally share the cost of the SRO Program.
