The Patrol Division, under the command of the Operations Lieutenant, responds to 911 calls-for-service, deters crime, enforces laws and apprehends criminals. All officers must graduate from the police academy and acquire certification by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. The officer must then go through a fourteen-week training program on the street before being allowed to man a patrol unit.
The Department has 72 sworn officers, including a two-man K9 unit and one Crime Scene Officer, who are divided into four platoons working twelve-hour shifts. There is normally an average of six officers on the street at any given time in Haltom City, responsible for twelve square miles and approximately 40,000 citizens. The City is divided into five districts, with a Sergeant and an officer assigned to each district. See the District Map to see which district you are in, then see Police Directory to see the name and phone number of your District Sergeant.
