Officer Brandon St John joins the K9 team after completion of a four week training course in Arkansas with his new partner, Jacey. Jacey is a three year old Belgian Malinois who comes to us from Holland and was financed with Drug Forfeiture funds.
Jacey is a single purpose dog trained in detecting narcotics, tracking, and article recovery. The team will support the Department's existing K9 team, Sgt Tom Myers and Bruno, a dual purpose dog who is also a Belgian Malinois.
The dogs are sometimes used to assist other area agencies that do not have K9 units. They are also available to make appearances at schools and special community events where the officers often conduct a demonstration of their applications.
If you wish to have a K9 demonstration at a community event, you may contact the Police Department at 817-222-7100.
