The Criminal Investigations Division, under the command of the Operations Lieutenant, investigates criminal acts which occur within Haltom City and collects and preserves evidence and property related to criminal cases. The division employs ten detectives and one civilian Administrative Secretary supervised by a Sergeant. Two detectives specialize in crimes against persons, three in property crimes and one in domestics crimes. The secretary also serves as Victim Assistance Coordinator, and one detective handles youth crimes and sex offender registration.

Haltom City participates in mutual assistance agreements, which places one detective in the Tarrant County Auto Theft Task Force and one in the Metro Narcotics Intelligence and Coordination Unit.
