The Community Services Unit is made up of one Sergeant and one officer, and is under the command of the Operations Support Lieutenant. This unit serves as a liaison between the community and the Police Department, helping citizens to form Crime Watch groups for their neighborhoods. This unit helps to coordinate Block Parties, Crime Watch Meetings and various community events to promote crime awareness and prevention. Another service provided by this unit is free inspections of homes and businesses for crime prevention tips. They track crime statistics and can provide citizens with detailed information for specific areas. The Sergeant also serves as the coordinator for programs such as Citizens on Patrol, CrimeWeb.Net, A Child Is Missing and the Haltom City Emergency Liaison Program.
