The purpose of the Civil Service Commission is to direct and administer the civil service ordinance and conduct hearings fairly and impartially, rendering a fair and just decision considering only the evidence presented. Powers and duties are stipulated by the provision of the State Civil Service Act in administering state regulations pertaining to personnel matters of the fire and police depts.
