The purpose of the Animal Advisory Committee is to assist the City in complying with requirements of V.T.C.A. Health, Safety Code Ch 823 which regulates the operation of local government animal shelters. One member must be a veterinarian, one a municipal officer, one member must represents an animal welfare organization, one member has duties which include the daily operation of the animal shelter and the fifth member must be a citizen of the City.  Appointments are made by the Council and meetings are held at least three times a year.
